Hylton’s “Chasing Shadows: Inside the Hunt for Notorious Fugitives” presentation will share the inside scoop on takedowns that made history.\n\n\n\nFriday\, June 27\, 2025\n6-8p\n$10 + tax\, free for Members\nRegister Here!\n  \nMore about the speaker:\nMs. Hylton began her 35-year law enforcement career as a Deputy U.S. Marshal in 1980. During her tenure with the U.S. Marshals Service\, she rose progressively through the ranks holding several key positions in diverse mission areas\, including 10 years in the Special Operations Group. She was selected to serve as an instructor at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Academy; as well as Witness Security Inspector; Chief of Judicial Security; Chief Deputy\, District of South Carolina; and Assistant Director for the Prisoner Operations Division. She also served as the Agency’s Incident Response Commander for national disasters and emergencies\, Chair of the Merit Promotion System and as the Agency’s Deciding Official. In 2001 she was Acting Deputy Director for the agency. \nIn 2004\, Ms. Hylton was appointed to serve as the Attorney General’s Federal Detention Trustee\, responsible to ensure efficient and effective management of programs for individuals held in confinement\, several billion dollars across multiple fiscal years\, complex contracts\, quality assurance programs\, audits and interagency technology solutions\, along with the oversight of Justice Prisoner and Alien Transportation System. The Trustee worked across several agencies\, such as the Bureau of Prisons\, Immigration Customs and Border Patrol and the US Marshals Service and thousands of state\, local and private facilities across the country\, all operating under different federal\, state and local legislation and regulations requiring a broad base of knowledge to resolve complex issues. \nMs. Hylton retired from public service after a 30-year career in 2010 and stood up a small business\, but returned to public service in late 2010 when she was asked by the President to serve as the Director of the U.S. Marshals Service. Ms. Hylton was confirmed by the U.S. Senate and retired in 2015 after serving for five years. As head of the agency she managed a multi-year budget and assets totally approximately $5 billion\, directed 5\,600 employees\, 1\,750 sworn Task Force Officers from state and local agencies\, 5\,100 Court Security Officers\, and 94 Presidentially appointed U.S. Marshals\, within 94 judicial districts and three international offices. The United States Marshals Service secures over 2\,000 Federal judges\, the U.S. Attorneys\, federal witnesses and arrests more than one hundred thousand wanted fugitives and registered sex offenders annually. \n  \n  \n
